My First Day of Daycare...

I was very anxious about the first day of daycare.  We had been so lucky because John's mom agreed to keep Caleigh for us for a month before sending her to someone we don't didn't know.  I felt much more comfortable leaving my 6 week old with Nana...that's for sure!  :)  I had been anxiously awaiting Halloween to come that's for sure.  It was nice to have my parents come in for the surprise visit because it took my mind off of the following day.

The first day leaving her with Nana was a little emotional...I got a little teary-eyed, but once I was in the car driving I was so consumed with what I had to get done at school that I pushed leaving her to the back burner.  I felt like a crummy mom because I wasn't as emotional as people say you will be.  It is so hard to balance expectation with reality.  It seems like people constantly talk about the wonderful things and fail to mention the not-so-great things, which leads one me to have difficulty when I experience something.  But then again...this happened when we got married, too!  Thank goodness I had someone to talk to about getting married!  Now, I'll be able to return the favor when she has her own little ones!  I knew with the day of leaving her with someone I didn't know would unfortunately would come...and it seemed to come quicker than expected.  I didn't know how I would react and I think that made me more nervous that the actual act of leaving her.  As I drove to Faith Lutheran, I was overwhelmed with emotion.  I was sad that she was growing up so fast, scared to leave her, afraid to trust someone to take care of her, and devastated that I wouldn't be able to get pictures of my precious little girl throughout the day (Nana definitely spoiled me with that!).  As soon as I got there, I once again was overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done...bringing in the box of diapers, box of wipes, the formula, the bottles, the extra clothes...and facing the unknown.  Thank God for giving me something else to focus on!  I took several pictures and gave many kisses...

and then it was time to head to my meeting at school (of course we have a meeting that I have to be at early the day I leave her at daycare for the first time!  Ms. Wendi is amazing!  Once I was comfortable with her, I knew that everything would be okay.  I didn't cry like a baby (no pun intended!)...which once again upset me more than actually leaving her.  I guess I just felt like if I was leaving her somewhere I didn't trust I shouldn't be leaving her.  But I have all the faith in the world in Ms. Wendi!  I know that she is in a good place and they take care of our precious little gift.  I tend to block out the fact that she may have to cry a little more before getting attention because as a teacher I understand that she may be the world to me, but her teachers have more than just one that is the world to them.  John texted me that he was about to go pick her up and I think he was just as excited as I was!  As soon as John got her in the car, he sent me this picture!  I was working late because I had my observation that Wednesday and had to get ready for it because John had class the night before.

Surprise Visit from LolliPops

We had planned to meet LolliPops (my parents) in College Station for an early dinner on Sunday because Dad went to the deer lease to do a few things before opening weekend.  About 4:45 that afternoon, Mom and Dad were on their way home from the deer lease and I was expecting to talk about what time and where we'd be meeting the next day!  But to my surprise...they wanted to come spend the night, so they could spend more time with Caleigh!  Of course we said come on...and I got busy finishing the house work!  We finished housework and they got here around 9.  Cal was already in bed and it was killing my parents that they couldn't hold her!  They were very anxious for the middle of the night feeding around 3 AM, but it came and went!  At 6:30, cal finally woke up and dad picked her up and cuddled with her for a while and then fed her.  They were so disappointed (for the first time) that she slept throughout the night!  haha!

The next morning we went to breakfast and put Caleigh in her Halloween costume because I knew we wouldn't be going anywhere the next night.  I was craving some ice cream around 2, so we went to 3 Spoons and it was oh so yummy!  Unfortunately after we got back, it was then time for them to head home.

More Pictures!

Caleigh's First Football Game

Caleigh, John, and I went to the Sam Houston game with Nick and Carly!  Of course it was Homecoming weekend...and it was packed!  We had to hike forever and poor John having to lug the car seat around!  We finally found Nick and Carly and the boys had a beer prior to going in!  We watched until halftime because I wanted to see the halftime show!  We had such a great time hanging out with Nick and Carly...it had been a while!  When we got home...Caleigh slept for 12 hours!  I guess the heat wore our little one out!!  :)  Needless to say...it was a wonderful night sleep for John and I!  :)

NLCS Game with Kellie!!!

I was VERY okay...EXTREMELY excited to not only get to have some girl time with my bff, but I was getting to go see the Rangers play in their journey to win the World Series (unforutnately...it didn't turn out the way we wanted)!  I was very nervous about leaving Caleigh, but I have an amazing husband, who I have a million percent faith in him to take care of our precious bundle of joy, so I knew I had nothing to worry about! The feeling of being a bad mom because I left her before she was two months old was pretty overwhelming (by my own voice running through my head and comments made by some), but I didn't care!  I needed time with my best friend and time to just be me...not a mom or wife...just me!  Kel and I had such a great time...it was great to have such great....such NEEDED....conversation!  I just wish I could live five minutes from her again.  I miss being able to go see her whenever I want to and go for girl's days when I need it....AND when she needs it!  I was definitely blessed to form our wonderful friendship...the type that no matter how far apart we are...it never changes.  Althought I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Kel, I can't lie...I missed my family and was excited to be back with them...even though I had to clean and do laundry!

A Visit from LolliPops!!!

LolliPops just can't handle staying away too long...which we don't mind one bit!  We always love seeing them...especially since it means we get a full night's sleep!  :)  Mom and I went to Fair on the Square while the boys took care of Caleigh!  Then, we watch the game and just enjoyed each other's company!

The Gale's came to visit!!!

We were so excited that Aunt Mary, Uncle James, and Ainsley got to come meet Caleigh for the first time at the end of September!  Ainsley was absolutely precious with Caleigh!  She would give her kisses and just stare at her!  We took a walk to the park and fed the ducks with Ains and walked back!  We always enjoy our time with Mary and James...I wish we could do it more often!  I got to read and play with Ainsley!  I played match with her and she got mad at me because she kept wanting to turn over the cards until she found a match, so I kept telling her she couldn't do that.  She ended up wanting to play 72 card pick up instead of following the rules to the game...needless to say it only took three times before Aunt Brandi said I don't want to play anymore!  :)  I just love that little girl so much!  Here are just a few pictures from the time they were here (John's on my computer with all the pictures Mary took, so I don't have many to share.)
